ISACA Singapore Chapter is organizing a Dinner Talks & Networking Session on Wednesday, June 23 June 2010. Take this opportunity to hear from Mr Luis E. Alvarez Dionisi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ALDION Consulting presenting on the topic of Managing IT Project Risks in the Current Economic Downturn Environment.

Programme/Synopsis:

With the world’s economy reaching the brink of disaster during the current financial crisis, wealthiest economies around the world, even till today, are struggling to recover from the painful impact of the economic downturn. Global stock markets, financial institutions, and real estate sectors have collapsed and governments have had to intervene in order to rescue them.

Having painted this realistic picture, the speaker will introduce the concepts of corporate governance, IT governance and project governance, and explain how these concepts are intertwined with managing IT project risks. During this presentation, the Risk IT framework from Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) and the project, program and portfolio risk management approach from Project Management Institute (PMI) will also be examined. Additionally, the speaker will highlight how organizations could benefit by adopting these established frameworks in order to better manage IT project risks.

The presentation will address the following areas:

  • Glancing Through IT Risk Frameworks

About the Speaker:

Luis E. Alvarez Dionisi, Ph.D. Candidate, M.Sc, PMP, CGEIT, CRISC is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ALDION Consulting. He is an entrepreneur project management consultant with over 18 years of experience in providing consulting services for the following sectors:

  • Oil and Gas,
  • Telecommunications,
  • Automobile,
  • Banking and Finance,
  • Retailing and Wholesale,
  • Manufacturing, and
  • Government.

Luis has worked in consulting engagements in the USA, Europe, China, Iran, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Latin America, and the Caribbean. He has also served as a consultant with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and also as a project management advisor to the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) in Beijing, China.

Luis is a Ph.D. Candidate in Strategy, Programme and Project Management from SKEMA Business School in Paris and Lille, France. He has also received his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, CUM LAUDE, from Central New England College of Technology in Worcester, Massachusetts and his Master of Science degree in Computer Information Systems from Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts.

Luis is a certified PMP® (Project Management Professional) and he has also been awarded the official CobiT® Certificate by ISACA, which demonstrates mastery of the CobiT® framework. He is an accredited trainer with ISACA on CobiT® Foundation courses. Luis has also been awarded the CGEIT (Certified in Governance of Enterprise IT) and the CRISC (Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control) credentials by ISACA.
